ERAU Computer Engineering Summer Camp 2016 - Friday PM
This afternoon we will do our capstone activity by implementing battle bots using a combination of mobile robot design and app development.
Module #1: Battle Bots
You and a partner will develop a battle bot. The battle bot can be fully autonomous. Or, it can be controlled by your mobile application for all or part of its control. A mobile application to support your robot is highly encouraged.
The rules are simple:
- Fighting arena will be a flat and relatively smooth surface (however, some bumps and imperfections may exist)
- Arena will have a black border, which can be used by light sensors as a warning that the edge approaches
- Robots start in the middle of the arena with a 6 inch space between the robots
- When the referee says go, the robots must be activated (by touch or mobile app)
- The match will last until there is a winner or the time limit expires
- A winner is declared if:
- Opponent goes out of bounds (any part of the robot physically attached to the robot)
- Opponent is disabled (judges decision)
- After three ties, judge will select a winner based on fighting performance
- The competition will be tournament style with best of three for each round
Module #2: Battle Bots Tournament
The final hour of the camp will be a battle bots tournament. This competitive activity is for fun and bragging rights.
